Our mission : using psychological science to improve justice
Dr Ching-Yu Soar Huang
Dr Huang is passionate about using psychological science to improve justice internationally. After 10+ years of working as a full-time academic and serving as an intermediary, she decided that it is time to set up Cambridge Alliance of Legal Psychology to help people and to make more direct impact in the justice system.
She works to support children in family and criminal justice proceedings such as in child sexual abuse and child custody cases, investigative interviews with child witness and suspects, combating cognitive and racial bias in legal decision making.
She loves contributing her expertise in the criminal and family justice contexts internationally, and had contributed to international initiatives such as the designing of the Méndez Interview Principle endorsed by the UN (link), the UK Parliament POST’s report on the use of biological methods in asylum age assessments (link), and the vulnerable witness investigative interview reforms in Taiwan (link).
Soar has published more than 100 peer-reviewed works and has been invited to give over 100 training workshops or talks internationally, including the Police in the UK, China, and Taiwan; the Judiciary and the Ministry of Justice in Taiwan; Association of Family Court in the USA; the Ministry of Health and Welfare and various Hospitals in Taiwan.
